Solway Battlefields Tours

Guided WWI and WWII Battlefield Tours

Welcome to Solway Battlefields Tours

Mark Turner and Lesley Watson owners of Solway Battlefields Tours began Solway Tours in 2014 and have built up a multi award winning company. They provide bespoke ancestral guided, historic tours of Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, Ireland and beyond.

As former history teacher, Mark and Lesley organised and led many WW1 and WW2 Battlefields Tours for young Scottish students to develop their understanding of the causes of conflict and its impact. These tours were widely recognised as high quality and thoughtful opportunities for many young people. As guides within Solway Tours Mark and Lesley lead a number of group and private tours to WW1 and WW2 Battlefields and have now expanded further and established Solway Battlefields Tours.

As experienced Battlefields tour guides both Mark and Lesley can build a personalised itinerary for small groups or families which allow them to follow in the footsteps of their ancestors. Their in-depth knowledge of the major 20th Century conflicts mean that they can get people to places where their relatives fought in the trenches of WW1 or the landing beaches of WW2.

Solway Battlefields Tours also offer scheduled group tours into France and Belgium at various point throughout the year.
